Davis Siblings Surprise Parents {Davis Portrait Photographer}

Ashley contacted me a few months ago inquiring about a portrait with her and her siblings. I could tell by the excitement in her voice how much it meant to her.

Although the three siblings grew up in Davis, both sisters no longer live here in town. Getting everyone together is a rarity and getting this portrait done took effort and planning.

Everyone brought two outfits for the session and we had a great time creating a variety of images in the studio.

Ashley, Adam, and Lindsay are really close and caring. It came through in the final images.

Adam is graduating from high school this year. I was pleased to hear he is planning to use one of the images from this portrait session for his official senior portrait.

The image below was given to the parents as a gag gift until the final portraits were ready.  It became a conversational piece throughout the holidays while guests and family were visiting.

I had a wonderful time getting to know these three and hope to do another portrait for them again real soon.

Winter Quarter Interns at V.I.P. Studios Photography

Photography has always been a strong passion of mine. At V.I.P. studios photography I have had the opportunity to explore this passion and learn about all aspects of a running a established photography business.  Recently I took part in a mini photo shoot which was super fun! Amanda and I happen to have the same camera but different brands. I am looking forward to debating which camera is better, Nikon or Canon? ImageImageImageImage

Jacob Cannan – Pioneer HS, Class of 2013 {Sacramento Senior Portrait Photographer}

Jake is the third member of his family that I photographed for their senior portraits. I chose to photograph in the studio and Downtown Davis over a course of two days.
Jake plays the guitar in a band Melchizedek. The band has been together for awhile and play locally in Davis and Woodland.

One of Jake’s passions is playing and watching baseball. He is a big A’s fan and enjoys going to the games with his dad.

This is one of my favorite shots of Jake.

Downtown Davis offers some great backdrops. On the right, Jake is practicing his air guitar.

Watermelon Music is one of Jake’s favorite places to visit. Can you guess where the picture on the left was taken?

This mural by the Train Depot had barely been completed when we came across it on our shoot.I had a great time photographing Jake. He is easy going, confident, and photogenic. It was a pleasure catching up with his mom, Michelle, and the rest of his siblings.

Davis Bridge Benefit Salsa Night

The Davis Bridge Educational Foundation works to provide academic services for low-income Davis students. They are dedicated to make college a goal for all Davis students.

UC Davis students, fluent in both English and Spanish, volunteer their time to work in homework clubs offered by Davis Bridge.

Each year, Bridge holds a fun Salsa Night Fundraiser at the Veterans Memorial.

Janet Boulware, the Executive Director of Davis Bridge, works to provide a new approach to integrate Latina/o students with their community and futures.

At the event there was salsa dancing taught by Fiesta DanceN’ Fitness, live music by Zapato Viejo, a raffle, and more!

John Lescroart, author of The Hunter and Davis Bridge Board of Director, is a supporter of the Davis Bridge Educational Foundation.

The Davis Taqueria Guadalajara catered the Salsa night.

E-donations to the Bridge can be made on their website.

Lots of volunteers made this evening a success and thanks to Davis Bridge and Liz Malinoff for giving me the opportunity to photograph and enjoy the festivities!

V.I.P. Studios Photography donates to a handful of charitable organizations in the area and is always looking for new causes to contribute to.

Our American Family Portrait – {Sacramento, Davis Family Photographer}

Even though Tracie lives in Italy, she spends every summer with her husband and three boys in Davis where she grew up. This summer was no exception. I had the opportunity to photograph this active and fun-loving family in between fencing and swimming lessons, and trips around California.

When the Davis Little League asked for a donation last spring, we raffled off a gift basket which included a family portrait session. This family was the lucky winner.

This image was taken at the Storer Garden in the UC Davis Arboretum.

The boys being stoic…

Boys being boys!

The Tree of Life is an universally appealing backdrop for any portrait.

The family did not hesitate to make a funny face for the camera.

The image below was chosen for the family’s wall in their home in Italy.

I had a great time getting to know this family that divides their time between two continents. No matter where you live and what time of year it is consider a family portrait to recognize and celebrate your own family.
